English language assistants in France
The ‘Canadian English language assistants in French’ is open to students between the ages of 20 and 30. This program, organized by the French Ministry of Education, is now in its 109th year: it debuted in 1905 as an arrangement between France and the UK. It is mainly (but not only) designed for students registered in DEPARTMENTS OF FRENCH and FACULTIES OF EDUCATION, to whom it offers unique first-hand experience of their future jobs as teachers – in a secure, professional environment, where they will be placed under the responsibility of a regular teacher. Assistants will not be fully in charge of a class, nor will they be responsible for conducting all classroom activities. Students from other departments and faculties are eligible too, provided they meet the application criteria. 220 positions are available to Canadian students for the period starting October, and ending April.
